Put the walkthrough into practice

Fictional business details and illustrative tax choices. Replace them before issuing.

A short walkthrough with fictional data. No audio; English captions explain each step. The full written instructions are below.

1. Choose the invoice type and enter the parties

Open Billora’s sample invoice to see a finished example. Use GST tax invoice mode for supported ordinary domestic taxable supplies, or simple invoice mode when appropriate to your business. Simple mode removes the GST calculation. Selecting a mode does not establish your tax obligations.

Replace the sample invoice number, date, seller, customer, and addresses. Give each issued invoice an appropriate unique number. GSTIN checks cover supported state prefixes, structure, and checksum; a passing check does not establish that a business is registered or that the GSTIN belongs to it.

2. Review place of supply separately from the address

Billora uses the supplier state and your chosen place of supply to split GST. Matching states produce CGST plus SGST or UTGST, as supported for that state or territory. Different states produce IGST. The customer’s address is not automatically treated as the place of supply.

In the sample, changing place of supply from Maharashtra to Karnataka switches the display from CGST and SGST to IGST. Use that as a way to understand the interface, then determine the actual place of supply under the rules that apply to your transaction.

3. Check line items and the calculation

Enter each item’s description, quantity, unit, rate, discount, and applicable HSN or SAC and GST rate. These are choices you review; the app does not classify the supply for you. For multiple items, download the CSV template, keep its headers, and import your completed copy.

Amounts use integer arithmetic. Each line’s gross amount, discount, and tax components round to paise before summation. Separate components can differ by a paise from an accounting system that rounds a combined tax value. Compare the exported result with the system you will use for your records.

The unchanged fictional sample
Taxable value: ₹19,500.00
CGST: ₹1,755.00
SGST: ₹1,755.00
Invoice total: ₹23,010.00

Changing the sample place of supply switches to IGST of ₹3,510.00.

4. Finish and review the PDF

In Finish, review payment terms, optional notes, amount already paid, and any rounding adjustment. An optional UPI ID adds a payment QR for the remaining balance. Check the payee yourself; Billora does not receive money or verify successful payments.

Download the PDF and inspect its parties, dates, line items, totals, and page breaks before issuing it. This PDF is not an IRP-registered e-invoice. Billora does not generate an IRN or an IRP-signed QR, file returns, or cover reverse charge, cess, exports, and SEZ transactions.

5. Reuse the draft without reusing its identity

Select “Save on this device” to keep an editable copy in this browser. Open Your drafts and choose “Use as new” for the next invoice. Billora copies the business, customer, items, and terms into a new draft identity. It clears the invoice number, due date, and amount already paid, and sets the invoice date to today in India.

Add a new invoice number and review all copied details, including project references in notes, rates, and payment terms. The original saved draft remains unchanged. The new invoice is not saved until you explicitly save it. Download a draft JSON backup before changing devices or clearing browser storage; a PDF is not an editable draft backup.

Before you finish

  • Invoice mode and supported transaction scope are appropriate
  • Parties, number, dates, place of supply, codes, and rates are reviewed
  • Payment instructions and remaining balance are checked
  • The PDF was opened and reviewed
  • A local draft or JSON backup is saved if needed
